On moving forwards a coupling component (34) enters into engagement between the towing frame (30) and a load support (18) movable in front of it on a vehicle frame (1, 2, 4). On moving backwards from the loading position by the towing frame, the load support is picked up with the aid of the coupling component. When the front load support in this movement reaches its position in the vehicle longitudinal direction, the coupling component is automatically freed so that the load support remains in the correct position, whilst the towing frame moves backwards to its rear position. The freeing movement can be produced by a stop component (62) on the vehicle frame (2), which directly activates the coupling component when it passes.
