Improved complex for detecting the power level outside the core for a system monitoring neutron flow

A complex detector of the level of power of the neutron flow outside the core comprises a neutron flow detector subcomplex and a moderator subcomplex in the form of a double-walled container of annular transverse cross- section for receiving the detector subcomplex therein under coaxial and telescopic conditions and having a moderator material, preferably high density polyethylene, in the annular space between its double walls in order to convert the epithermal neutrons in the flow dispersed from a nuclear reactor into thermal neutrons having a power level which can be detected by the flow detector subcomplex. The said insulating spacer members which are fitted concentrically and axially offset along the surface of the cylindrical enclosure of the detector provide a lateral structural support and spacing between them and electrical insulation between the detector subcomplex and the moderator subcomplex.
