The appts. has no loading mechanism but includes a water vessel (4), electric heaters (13), baskets (3) and a large access cover (27) on the front and/or top side of the cooking chamber (1). Two food baskets rotate on drive shafts (7) having a common axis (2) and are driven by motors (5). The level control has thermocouple sensors (40,41) at different levels in a sheath (39), one being placed just below the desired water level (42).
