System for controlling vehicular traffic on road networks, having a plurality of photoelectric sensors which, when located on road networks, detect the presence of vehicles; when an interruption of the light beam persists beyond a certain time interval, the interruption being caused by the presence of stationary vehicles or those in transit on a portion of the network, and being sent as an alarm signal to a control processor, the system sends actuating signals to information panels, the signals being designed to provide timely warning to drivers located before the said portion of the network.
