Multiple saline infusion solution based on sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate

Multiple saline infusion solutions based on sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride which may contain dextrose, dextran hydroxyamide and/or modified gelatine have a preferred ion distribution of: Na+ from 110 to 155, Cl- from 90 to 120 and HCO-3 from 20 to 50 mmol/l. Critically two formulations 30 and 45 corresponding to HCO-3 contents of 30 and 45 mEq/l respectively are presented. The bags of at least 500-1000 ml are of three- layer material (polypropylene, polyamide, polyethylene; CLEAR FLEX) which is highly impermeable to gases.
