IN A SPECIFIC APPLICATION OF THE INVENTION, THE CNTF MAY BE USED TO SUPPORT THE GROWTH OF SPINAL CORD NEURONS, THEREFORE PROVIDING A METHOD FOR THE TREATMENT OF EVILS IN THE SPINAL CORD, NUTRITIONAL, DEFICIENT, OR . THE INVENTION ALSO REFERS TO A NEW METHOD FOR PRODUCING A SUBSTANTIALLY PURE CNTF.
