A METHOD AND APPARATUS IS USED TO REDUCE SULFUR DIOXIDE PRODUCED BY THE COMBUSTION OF A FUEL WITH SULFIDE CONTENT IN A COMBUSTION CHAMBER. PART OF THE COMBUSTION AIR IS INTRODUCED IN THE CHAMBER WITH AND ADJACENT TO THE FUEL. ANOTHER PART OF SUCH AIR IS INTRODUCED IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER ABOVE AND CURRENT DOWN THE FUEL AND RELATIVELY AWAY FROM THE SAME UNDER THOSE CONDITIONS WHICH DAMPER THE TEMPERATURE OF THE FLAME FRONT AND REDUCE THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF THE FLAME. FINALLY DIVIDED OR SIMILAR LIMESTONE PARTICLES WILL BE SUCKED INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER BY THE AIR INTRODUCED ABOVE THE FUEL AND DRAINED THROUGH THE GASES FLOWING DURING THE CAASIN DASTS OF CABAS DE DUE IN LIMESTONE PARTICLES THAT REACT WITH SULFUROUS DIOXIDE IN COMBUSTION REACTION GASES TO PRODUCE CALCIUM SULPHATE. THERE IS NO PREVIOUS MIXTURE OF PARTICLES AND BREATHED AIR BEFORE THEY ENTER THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. SEVERAL PARAMETERS ARE CONTROLLED TO PRODUCE THE DESIRED RESULTS.
