The present invention relates to a method to apply an upholstery bag, preferably a seat upholstery for a sitting portion, onto a seat with a framework into which the upholstery bag attached. The invention is characterized in that a front of the stiffer edge portions at the circumferential of the upholstery bag is brought into a countersunk recess in a direction being essentially parallell with the horizontal plane of the seat, whereup at least a rear stiffer edge portion will be brought straight down and into an open recess in the framework, the edge portions will be locked by friction in the recess by the straightening of the upholstery.
