A stand (10) for a stone-working machine, especially a core boring machine, has a support rod (12) and a slide (20) adjustable for height thereon with a tool holder (25) to which can be secured a drive unit (19) and a tool (18) rotatably secured thereto. The tool holder (25) is held on the slide (20) by means of a pivoting device (30) by means of which the tool holder (25) can be pivoted away, whereby said tool (18) can be secured to the support rod (12) in the operative position. To this end, the pivoting device (30) has two shafts (32) running parallel to the support rod (12), arranged beside each other in the slide (20) and capable of being engaged with or disengaged from the tool holder (25) individually or together. This considerably simplifies the operation and manipulation of the tool rotatably fitted on said stand.
