METHOD OF REMOVING SNOW AND ICE FROM ROAD SURFACES AND A PREPARATION 'KAMA' TO COMBAT ROAD ICE

The proposal relates to methods and means for the winter maintenance of road surfaces and can be used in the maintenance of public assets, in particular, for removing ice and snow from roads. The proposed method involves the following: once the anti-ice agent has been sprayed on the surface of the snow and ice layer, it spreads inside the snow and ice layer at the level of the road surface, from which the layer melts. The anti-ice agent used consists of granules obtained by compressing and crushing a mixture of sodium and potassium chlorides. The anti-ice preparation 'Kama' is produced in the form of granules in which the following proportions of constituents apply (in wt.%): potassium chloride 45-75; sodium chloride 24-50; water of crystallization and inert additives 1-5. The granules are between 0.1 and 10 mm in size. The range of pressures used is set to the optimum level for the compression. Use of the proposed preparation facilitates removal of snow and ice layers from road surfaces by melting the layer from the road surface upwards and is effective for considerable depths of snow and ice and in low air temperatures.
