Said drug is especially intended for modulating programmed cell death (apoptosis). The invention also concerns an apoptosis-modulating pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition characterized in that it comprises an active ingredient consisting of a compound selected from methional, malondialdehyde and any factor affecting the intracellular rate of methional or malondialdehyde, in combination with a pharmaceutically or cosmetically acceptable support. The invention also provides a method for preventing and/or combatting light-induced or chronological skin aging.
