The invention concerns an ice-skate boot or roller-skate boot, in particular for ice or roller hockey. The boot has a foot shell (1) and a backstay cuff (2) which is secured to the foot shell so as to pivot about a transverse pin (5), the foot shell (1) and cuff (2) being held together at their opening on the instep side via closure means. The invention is characterized in that the closure means for the foot shell (1) and cuff (2) are independent of one another, an open flexion region (17) being located between the upper edge (11) of the foot shell and the lower edge (9) of the cuff. The cuff (2) has two bending-resistant regions, a cuff rear part (3) articulated on the foot shell and a cuff front part (4) which can be secured relative to one another via closure means (15). The open flexion region (17) is covered by an impact-resistant, appropriately shaped guard (8) which is pivotably articulated. In a particularly advantageous manner, a shin guard (18) is detachably connected to the cuff front part (4) by means of securing components known per se, such that optimum protection and hold are ensured.
