The invention concerns a water-saving odour seal with reduced wastage for toilet basins, e.g. for shallow-flush, deep-flush, and vacuum-action toilets with moulded-on odour seal and for raised-level toilets with individual odour seal. The object of the invention is to ensure that the flushed matter is flushed away using as little flushing water as possible; to improve the hydraulic self-cleaning of the toilet basin and odour seal; and to prevent blockages. According to the invention, the water seal is a pipe bend, comprising an inlet limb (15) and an outlet limb (1), the water seal inlet (9) having a greater cross-section than the water seal outlet (7).
