The control system prevents simultaneous occurrence of a stimulated and natural heart reaction, by controlled timing of the heart stimulation pulses, with a delay between the spontaneous atrium action and the synchronised ventricular stimulation which is less than the natural atrium/ventricular interval. The heart stimulation pulses may be supplied at successively reducing frequency rates during 3 successive stages, with prevention of simultaneous spontaneous and stimulated heart stimulation for at least the first pulse at the third, lowest, frequency rate.
