For a circuit arrangement for separating a colour image signal into a chrominance signal, contained therein as modulated colour carrier, and into a luminance signal, generating two comb filter functions, a single-stage median filter 21 is provided in which the amplitudes of the signals of the three image lines and of the two comb filter functions, which are present at the same time, are compared with one another in a comparator stage which, in dependence on the comparison results, supplies logic comparison signals to a selection logic (30) which, by means of the comparison signals, continuously determines the signal with the instantaneous mean amplitude value supplied to the comparator stage and switches it to the median filter output.
