The invention relates to a multi-ply, organochlorine-free tubular casing consisting of a. a regenerated cellulose base, b. optionally an adhesion promoter layer, c. a 5-40 mu m thick, organochlorine-free, polymeric H2O vapour barrier layer, characterised in that it has an H2O vapour permeability of at most 50 g/m2 24 h and a surface tension of /= 34 mN/m, d. of a 5-40 mu m thick, polymeric, organochlorine-free O2 barrier layer, characterised in that it has an oxygen permeability of at most 120 cm3/m2 24 h bar and a surface tension of /= 38 N/m. The invention also relates to the use thereof as a sausage casing for sausages of the type of boiling and simmering sausages.
