The retaining clamp serves for connecting plates with different expansion behaviour and comprises two clamping legs (1 and 2), provided with through-passage holes (6), for clamping-in a plastic plate by means of resilient lugs (8, 9), being supported on the plate, and also comprising a threaded leg (3) which has a thread embossed (4) on it for screwing in a sheet-metal screw. In order not to impair, by the screw-connection, the expansion behaviour of the plate which expands to a greater extent, the clamping legs (1 and 2) are provided, coaxially with the through-passage holes (6), with two hole sleeves (7) which are directed towards one another and whose overall height "h1" + "h2" between the two legs (1 and 2), which have been pressed together, is greater than the plate thickness "s" of the plate which is to be clamped in.
