The thread (1) has a flexible section with two ends. The lower (2) fastening part on the thread first end has a hollow cylinder (5) with a continuous hole (7) through which a surgical needle threads. One end of the hollow cylinder is joined directly or indirectly to the thread section. The free end not joined to the thread section points away from the thread section and leads into a sloping edge (10). The point of the surgical needle protrudes out of the hollow cylinder free end to form a smooth transition surface together with the sloping edge. The thread section second end has a top fastening part (3) consisting of a tube (15) into which the hollow cylinder fits. The top and lower fastening parts are joined by at least one lug (23) fitting into a recess (11).
