In the cargo hold or holds (41) cargo accommodations (44-50) corresp. to each type of cargo to be carried are installed. They are rectangular in shape and take the form of containers or frames with the basic dimensions - length and width - of a standard 20 ft. container. The accommodations are defined by bulkhead columns opposingly positioned on the face sides of the frames or containers. The lower face sides of the columns connect with an under side of the container or frame. The floor space under the frames or containers is at least partly formed as a ballast tank, with at least one inlet and one outlet for ballast water.
