The present invention provides a substance having a strong anti-depressant activity from immature and peel (chewiness) of citrus unshiu (Citrus unshiu). As a result of the inhibition of absorption of 5-HT and the tail-suspension test of the extracts extracted from the chewy gum of the present invention, a strong antidepressant effect was confirmed as compared with the existing antidepressant drugs. As a result, the extracted substance extracted from the chewing gum may be used as a main component of a depressive drug containing an extract having antidepressant activity as an active ingredient and containing a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
