The present invention relates to a novel compound useful as an inhibitor of HIV protease, a process for producing the same, and a composition comprising the compound, and a compound having a cis-epoxide structure of the following formula (I) and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Hydrate or solvate thereof can be usefully used as an agent for the treatment or prevention of AIDS or HIV infection because the irreversible reverse preparation of HIV protease has a high inhibitory effect and low cytotoxicity.
