The present invention relates to novel bifunctional chelating agents having intermittent chalcogen atoms, medicaments containing these compounds, their use in radiation diagnostics and radiation therapy, and methods of making these compounds. The compound according to the present invention is a compound of the general formula (I). M-L (I) wherein M is a radionuclide of Tc or Re and L is a ligand of formula (II). Surprisingly, it has been found that novel bifunctional chelating agents with intermittent chalcogen atoms and their coupling products with their specially accumulating compounds are very suitable for the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
