Bridged or non-bridged metallocene compounds having two or four adjacent substituents wherein the cyclopentadienyl ligand forms at least one alkylene ring having from 4 to 8 carbon atoms are disclosed. These metallocenes are useful as catalyst components for the polymerization of olefins, particularly for the (co) polymerization of ethylene and the polymerization of propylene.
