The present invention relates to an oil-soluble reaction product of a phosphorus-containing compound, a low molecular weight basic nitrogen-containing compound and optionally a boron-containing compound. The reaction product is capable of dissolving phosphorus and boron in higher amounts per weight of compound than other known compounds and is used as a wear resistant additive, antioxidant additive and extreme pressure additive in lubricating oils.
