The present invention relates to a powder coating agent, an external coating method of a metal pipe, and the use of a powder coating agent for single-layer coating the exterior of a metal pipe. The present invention is also directed to a powder coating agent comprising an epoxy resin, a phenolic cross-linking agent, a catalyst, a filler and, if desired, an adjuvant and additives. The powder coating agent according to the present invention is characterized in that the filler used is a crystalline silicate modification functionalized with a glycidyl group. The present invention also relates to a method for cooling the exterior of a metal pipe using a powder coating agent according to the present invention and the use of a powder coating agent for a single layer coating of the exterior of a metal pipe.
