FIELD: aniline-paint industry. SUBSTANCE: sulfonic acids of substituted N,N-diphenyl diimides of 3,4,9,10- perylenetetracarboxylic acid of the general formula: N,N wherein R is H, Br, Cl, OH, , CH3,, C4H9,, OCH3,, n is 1 or 2 are used for forming superthin polaroid films of 0.1- 0.6 mcm thick which are selective in the region of 480- 550 nm and have improved thermal stability up to 350 C. New compounds are prepared by sulfonating substituted OC2H5,-diphenyl diimides of 3,4,9,10- perylenetetracarboxylic acid in concentrated sulfuric acid or in monohydrate, or in oleum, or in a mixture of oleum with chlorosulfonic acid at 20-90 C.
