FIELD: catalytic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method provides for successive impregnation of carrier with aqueous solutions of tungsten complex salt and nickel nitrate with subsequent drying, calcination at 450-650 C and reduction at 400 C in hydrogen current. Tungsten complex salt has formula Men[SiMe′W11Om], where Me is K, Cs, Li, Ni, Me′ is Co, Ni, W, Cr; n=4; m=40 when Me′ is W; Me=Me(+1) is K, Li, Cs; n=2 with Me=Me(+2) being Ni; n=6, m= 39 when Me′ is Ni or Co, Me=Me(+1); n=3 when Me=Me(+2); n=5, m=39 when Me′ is Cr and Me=Me(+1). In this case impregnation is conducted after application of this salt to carrier with its subsequent impregnation with solution of nickel hexahydronitrate. Salts are taken in quantities to ensure the following amount of components in catalyst, mas. nickel 1-5; tungsten complex salt of above indicated formula 2-6; the balance, carrier.
