SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of irradiating into an article a phase-manipulated probing signal, receprion with use of optimal filtration en autocorrelation function of reflected from an opposite wall of the article echosignal, had beed received, and determining a thicness value of the article according to known propagation speed of ultrasound and to difference between a time moment of termination of the phase manipulated probing signal and a time moment, corresponding to maximum value of the autocorrelation function of the echosignal.
