FIELD: location of objects with the aid of sonar, secondary search for evasive objects. SUBSTANCE: proposed method of consistent survey of water area during search for evasive object straying with change of heading and speed with definite time lag makes it possible to enhance probability of re- establishment of contact with object and to expand limits of permissible time lag. Watchers are positioned at start of survey along boundary of search area exceeding boundary of area of possible positions of object straying with change of heading and speed and then move towards point of loss of contact along converging Archimedean spiral till object of search is found. Novelty of proposed method consists in the following: watchers move from boundary of search towards point of loss of contact along converging Archimedean spiral; boundary of survey area at start of search exceeds boundary of area of possible positions of evading object; given method of survey enables objects straying with change of heading and speed to be detected. EFFECT: enhanced functional efficiency of method.
