FIELD: aluminium metallurgy, particular, production of aluminium by electrolysis of cryolite-alumina melts and designed for automatic SUPPRESSION of anode effect in aluminium electrolyzer. SUBSTANCE: method for automatic suppression of anode effect in aluminium electrolyzer provides for supply to melt of gas with excessive pressure alternating in two vertical channels in anode body with frequency above 1 Hz. Pulse affecting the gas supply system is used in form of voltage across electrolyzer higher than the rated working one but below the critical value at which anode effect occurs, and gas supply is discontinued at voltage below rated working voltage, or gas supply is regulated in time in combination with voltage across the electrolyzer.
