The device measures the dynamic movement of 2 relatively movable parts, e.g. the steering column (7) and a steering sleeve (8) attached to the vehicle chassis, using measuring wires (2,6) The successive breakage of the wires during the dynamic relative movement of the parts is detected for subsequent evaluation of the movement characteristics. Pref. each of the wires is supplied with a measuring current by a common current source (9), with the current interrupted upon breakage of the wire, to allow the corresponding time point to be recorded.
