The tappet (1) consist of a hollow, cylindrical skirt (2), whose one edge is closed by bottom disc (3), engaged by a control cam. A guide sleeve (5), concentric to the skirt, encloses an inside central oil storage chamber (7), while its outer jacket (8) extends in a bore (9) of an axially reciprocating pressure piston (10). In a first step, the central storage chamber, a high pressure chamber (18), and an annular oil storage chamber (17) are completely filled with hydraulic oil. Then at least the inlet bore (19) to the annular oil chamber is stopped with a grease or pasty material (20) solid at ambient temp.
