The level measurement method involves ultrasonic pulses propagated by a waveguide tube (2) with an ultrasonic vibrator (1) mounted on its upper section. Several ultrasonic receivers (51-5n+1) are arranged at intervals along the tube to receive the transmitted and reflected signals and are switched according to the water level. A microprocessor controller (10) receives the signals and computes the water level by measuring the distance (L0) from the transition times from the pulse detected at the first detector (51) and that nearest to the water level (5n), and using the propagation speed of ultrasound, leaving error ( DELTA L). The controller also controls the switching device and ultrasonic vibrator. The results data are displayed and are recorded automatically after conversion into analogue form.
