The system consists of a number of rotary segments (17) set up on vertical shafts (11,15) which can rotate on crosspieces (9,13) of the tower (1) at two or more different levels. The crosspieces extend through the centre of the tower and each rotary segment has a diameter exceeding the breadth of the tower, and incorporates two or more vertical blades for engagement with the wind. The shafts are coupled to an electric generator (21) on the ground with a transformer (22) and regulator (23).
