The device has a holder (1), which can be mounted on a garage wall, and an arm (8), which is pivoted on the holder. One end of the arm acts as a probe to sense the vehicle, and the other end carries an element to signal its position. The arm may be tensioned against a stop (14) by a spring, and may also be cranked. The holder may have a pivoting shaft (5), on which the arm is fastened, and the ends of the shaft may be mounted in the parallel limbs of a U-shaped component. The signalling element may be a circular sign (12).
