High-voltage devices for cooling oil-filled gas reporting device

The formation of gas in oil-filled high-voltage units is an indication of the incipient destruction of the electrical insulation. It is therefore necessary to prevent greater damage by providing early warning. This takes place by a gas-warning device which is fitted inside a high-voltage unit 1. It comprises two reflection heads 5a, b, which are arranged at different heights in the top 3 of the unit at high-voltage potential. Both reflection heads 5a, b are connected via optical waveguides 6 to a measuring device 7 at earth potential. The optical waveguides 6 are in this case arranged spirally around the active part 2 of the high-voltage unit 1. In the event of a fault, the gases forming are collected in a collecting device, which is attached in the form of a shroud 4 above the reflection heads 5a, b. A defined volume of gas is produced between the reflection heads 5a, b. A decision on the urgency of a shut-down can be made on the basis of the time intervals between the warnings which are fed to the measuring device 7. IMAGE
