The gas deflector for large flue gas pipes comprises a housing (16) with two pipe connections (1,2) on one side, and a third connection (3) on the other side. A flap (4) moves a pivot bearing (5,6) between the two pipe connections (1,2) and connects with the third pipe connection (3), while sealing off the other pipe connection (1 or 2). The flap (4) has a curved cable-pulley guide (30) and is positioned coaxially with the pivot bearing (5,6). A double cable pulley (7) deflected over spring-mounted deflector rollers (10,11) goes through the housing (16) and is joined to the free flap end not facing the pivot bearing.
