This invention relates to a flight bar (1) for scraper chain conveyors, having at least one flight bar projection (3) disposed in the region of the middle of the flight bar (1), which projects by a predetermined extent beyond the flight bar base (B) in the direction of travel of the flight bar, and which has a slanting face (4) on its underside having a predetermined slope and extending back towards the flight bar base (B). By this means coarse material acting on the flight bar projection (3) produces a turning moment in the direction of travel of the flight bar (1), which is in opposition to a backwardly oriented tip-over moment and consequently reduces, by a considerable extent, the tendency of the flight bar (1) to tip over backwards.
