The appts. includes a track with a number of markings, and a sensor with two connected sensor elements (14,15) connected. The track markings have a length (a) and spacings between them of length (b). The sensor elements have a spacing (s) between them. The sensor is rotated related to the arrangement of the marking of the track about an angle ( alpha ). A distance (s1) relative to the track is produced determining the resolution between the sensors. The track has two tracks parts about a distance compared to each other, which corresponds to half the sum of the marking length and the spacing distance. The sensor is so aligned, that one track part works in conjunction with one sensor element, and the other track with the other sensor element. So that the distance determining the resolution is the sensor element extension (k).
