A process and assembly are employed to heat and transport individual ready-meals. The food rests on trays covered by an air-tight lid (301A). The food is heated by hot air admitted through an aperture (341) by a pipe (347). The tray and lid are enclosed in a thermal insulator which surrounds each compartment, hot and cold.
