A prefabricated retention peg, for placement against the tooth pulp with a screw-threaded portion and also having a structured surface for building up artificial crown stumps for attachment of crowns and for stabilising fillers bonded onto living teeth. The peg is made of densely sintered ZrO2 ceramic.
