Secure application of a cross-linkable sealant to a pressure cast metallic part comprises: (i) passing the part under a corona electrode to treat the flange or grooved areas; (ii) either (a) applying the sealant as a thick liq. string on the flange or (b) injecting the sealant into a mould contg. (or being formed by) the part; and (iii) crosslinking the sealant.
