Method for aerial photograph of land areas using model aircraft

A method of photographing large tracts of land from the air either by conventional or video camera employs a radio-controlled model aircraft (1) flying at heights 20 to 150 m. The aircraft has a wingspan of 2.5 m, a weight not exceeding 4 kg and is powered by an electric motor to give a top speed of 20 kpn. During exposure takes, the potential problem of vibration is much reduced by switching to gliding flight and in this way a composite photogram (3) of the area (2) referenced to an accurate system of co-ordinates (4) is built up to provide evidence for agricultural, forestry, animal husbandry etc. control.
