The prodn. of an auxiliary agent for coating a base material comprises forming a 2 or more phase corrosion-resistant layer by thermal spraying, plasma powder build-up welding or arc welding using a powder or wire. The base material contains 8.0-35.0% Cr, 0.5-20.0% Ni, 0.005-1.5% C, 0.05-3.0% N and 0.5-10.0% Mo. Nitrogen is added to the material mixt. via a metallic nitrogen cpd..
