A high definition camera for photographing still pictures using a high resolution charge-coupled solid-state imaging device. The camera includes an electronic view finder (17) in which an image is reproduced by reading pixel signals from the imaging device. The image is formed with high resolution responsive to high resolution television systems. Plural memory areas (4 to 7) are used to store the pixel signals and an image is reproduced based on pixel signals read from designated memory areas while further pixel signals are simultaneously being stored in memory areas other than the designated ones. In a further embodiment, pixel signals are read by every frame region wherein a horizontal charge transfer path of the imaging device includes a pair of charge transfer lines.
