The road signs are installed using a slab (5) which is designed to be fixed in the ground (26) and to support the road signs (1). The slab is made of concrete and is mounted on piles (6,7) and insulated from the ground by a cushion of air (27). The slab has rods (14,15) which fit into grooves (23) in the piles. The piles are made of U-shaped sections which support safety barriers. The slab has threaded casings (17,18,19) which allow the road signs to be fixed in position with screws. When the slab is made of reinforced concrete the rods and the threaded casings (17,19) are soldered to the reinforcement (21). The piles are bolted to the rods.
