The frame (3) carries a brine tank (9) and hopper (2). Rear projections carry (7) a chute (8) and rotating disk (5), to which sand, grit, etc., is fed by screw or belt conveyor in the hopper base. Hopper side-walls slope inwards to meet the narrow base, leaving spaces (18) on each side to accommodate ancillaries - e.g, hydraulic pump and valves (13) for the disk drive, brine pump 14), electrical equipment cabinet (28) and other operational items. This flexibly connected (30) equipment is mounted on trays (16), withdrawable on rails (17) through doors in the hopper end panel (26). The energy source is the vehicle power take-off, a small IC engine or a dolly driving wheel near the disk.
