Method of synthesis of a lead - copper of the 2,4 - dihydroxybenzoic, new composition in order to modify the ballistic properties of a propellant and new propellant

The synthesis of a Pb-Cu cpd. of 2,4-dihydroxy-benzoic acid comprises mixing in aq. soln., a Pb2+ cpd. Cu2+ cpd. and 2,4-dihydroxy-benzoic acid to attain a constant pH, followed by filtration of the reaction mixt. The acid is first mixed with the mineral Cu cpd. (with stirring) to attain a constant pH; the mixt. is then de-gassed and the Pb cpd. is added with stirring to a constant pH. Also claimed is a new double base solid propergol compsn. which contains the Pb/Cu cpd. described above as the ballistic modifier additive.
