PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the number of stitches in a tubular knitted fabric of a beautiful firtish by increasing the number of stitches in a knitted fabric on the front side of the tubular knitted fabric, then moving the increased stitches to a knitted fabric on the rear side and compensating the deficiency in the stitches caused by the movement. ;SOLUTION: This method for increasing the number of stitches comprises steps for knitting a bottom rubber part in a sleeve part with a two-bed flat knitting machine, then feeding a knitting yarn through a yarn feed member 5 to needles A to D of the front needle bed, knitting a knitted fabric on the front side, simultaneously feeding the yarn to an empty needle E of the rear needle bed, hooking the knitting yarn thereon, then feeding the yarn to needles (d) to (a) of the rear needle bed, knitting a knitted fabric on the rear side, transferring a loop hooked on the needle E to the needle E of the front needle bed, increasing the number of wales in the knitted fabric on the front side by one, feeding the yarn to the needles A to D, knitting the knitted fabric on the front side for one course, subsequently revolvingly feeding the yarn to the needles (d) to (a) of the rear needle bed, knitting the knitted fabric on the rear side, transferring the stitch engaged with the needle E of the front needle bed, moving the increased stitch, repeating the step for increasing the stitches at the right end of the knitted fabric on the front side again in order to compensate the deficiency of the stitches due to the movement of the increased stitch and increasing the number of the stitches of the tubular knitted fabric in increasing the number of the stitches of the tubular knitted fabric with the flat knitting machine.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
