METHOD FOR CRUSHING MAGNESIA-CARBON BRICK AND METHOD FOR REUSING CRUSHED PRODUCT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To crush magnesia-carbon brick in a steam atmosphere into grains of an appropriate particle size inexpensively and simply so that the product can be reused in the iron and steel industries. SOLUTION: A surrounding U-shaped wall 1 is provided, an upper part and one side is opened, and a steam ejection pipe 3 is buried in a bottom part 2. Magnesia carbon brick B are accumulated in a place which is located above the pipe 3 and surrounded by the wall 1, the upper part and one side is covered with a covering means such as a waterproof sheet. Steam from the opening of the steam ejection pipe 3 is supplied to the magnesia-carbon brick B, and the disintegration of brick progresses by expansion and degradation. The inside of the wall 1 is closed nearly but not completely so that the inside is kept at constant temperature and under atmospheric pressure. Crushing is controlled by adjusting the amount and time of steam ejection.
